Family Program key in recovery approach

For patients at Oxford Treatment Center, the unknown horizon of a sober life looks far more hopeful when loved ones stand beside them.

The importance of family members’ support in long-term recovery is central to Oxford Treatment Center’s treatment approach. Our two-day Intensive Family Therapy Program (IFTP) brings loved ones together during the final weekend of a patient’s residential treatment program.

Families meet in group sessions, where they have a chance to better understand the disease of addiction and also to process their own feelings and experiences. On the second day, they are reunited with their loved one for an afternoon of patient and family sharing.

“It’s a very powerful process,” said IFTP Coordinator Dee Meux, ICADC, a clinical therapist with 26 years’ experience.

“To me, this is everything,” she said. “It’s being able to bring families and their loved ones together to begin healing after the unimaginable pain they have endured.”

The new Tupelo Outpatient Office

Is now offering an ongoing group for family members and patients, focusing on understanding addiction and its affects on the family. The group meets on Monday evenings.
