Jarome Kirkland is a Licensed Professional Counselor, serving as the Veteran Program Coordinator at the Oxford Treatment Center where he has been the primary clinician facilitating veterans services since August 2021. In personal recovery since 2010; and having worked within the field of addiction treatment since 2013,  Jarome brings a wealth of knowledge and unique experiences to his therapeutic practice. His passion for helping others comes from his own personal experiences and successes with working through mental health and substance abuse issues.

Jarome fosters a supportive and judgement-free environment where patients can rediscover their unique strengths. He focuses on building self-worth and purpose, empowering them to embrace a balanced approach to wellness. His ultimate goal is to help each individual reach their full potential and live a fulfilling life with reduced relapse risks, improved health, and overall well-being.

Jarome’s unique approach is multidimensional and holistic. He tailors treatment plans to each patient’s needs, utilizing a combination of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and choice therapy. His sessions are infused with colorful stories, raw honesty, wit, and a dry sense of humor, creating a safe and engaging space for healing. When not helping patients, Jarome enjoys Marvel movies, creating Legos, camping, and spending time with his wife and six boys.

As a dedicated member of the Oxford Treatment Center team since 2017, he is passionate about helping others recover from trauma and substance use disorders. He has been EMDR trained since October 2020; an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC) and a member of the national Board of Certified Counselors (NCC).

Jarome earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Counselor Education from  Mississippi State University.  As a licensed professional, Jarome is recognized by the Mississippi Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.
