Why Attend a First Responders Treatment Program in the Friendly South?

First Responders have a challenging job. Being everyday heroes to everyday people is nothing to take lightly. Couple this responsibility with battling an addiction to alcohol or to drugs, and that can be overwhelming for most individuals. Pressure. Responsibilities. Requirements. Lives on the line. It’s a full time job that more than likely impacts different areas of a responder’s life.

The welcoming staff at Oxford Treatment Center, an American Addiction Centers (AAC) facility, offers responders the Veterans program. AAC understands the challenges they face. This program was created with both first responders and veterans in mind.

Eligible individuals include:

  • Emergency medical service providers.
  • Police officers.
  • Firefighters.
  • Correctional officers.
  • Dispatchers.

Located in the heart of Mississippi in a city called Etta, Oxford Treatment Center welcomes first responders with open arms from our caring and professional staff to help them. And even if an individual is a resident of the state of Mississippi, this is a great opportunity to not only focus on getting sober, healing, and eventually, achieving long-term sobriety, but to enjoy all the wonderful attractions that the southern state has to offer.

It’s not a secret that the south is naturally friendly. Not only can individuals enjoy the hand-waving and hellos from front porches, but the Magnolia state offers intriguing landmarks as well. For the lovers of books and scribes alike, Mississippi is home to the famous writer’s previous residenceMr. William Faulkner. Imagine walking through the same corridors that the great author once strolled through himself. Individuals can even visit Elvis Presley’s birthplace and museum. How amazing would it be to see where the King of Rock ‘n Roll was born?

And if an individual is looking to be out in nature, the Safari Wild Animal Park provides all the adventures one would need. Visitors can be in awe of the sights of the animals while sitting in the comfort and safety of their very own vehicle.

When individuals are at Oxford Treatment Center, they have the ability to enjoy amenities such as a fitness center, a basketball court, a sand volleyball court, and a private lake.

And contingent on the unique and customized treatment plan offered to each patient, music therapy, yoga, art therapy, equine therapy, and mindfulness may also be part of the experience in order for patients to achieve long-term sobriety. Recreational therapies like the ropes course and the 12-step walk may also be part of a treatment plan.

The needs of first responders is very unique, and Oxford Treatment Center knows exactly how to address those needs in order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for those working through the process of battling their addiction to drugs or alcohol.

What’s unique to the Veterans program includes:

  • Cognitive distortions.
  • First responder and military culture.
  • Post-traumatic responses.
  • Relapse prevention.
  • Pain management.
  • Grief and loss.
  • Character and values.

Oxford Treatment Center is here to help those struggling with a substance use disorder or an alcohol use disorder. We want to help those in need reach long-term sobriety.
