Freedom House Detox Facility

Oxford Treatment Center is committed to helping people on their path to recovery. The new inpatient detox facility, Freedom House, will be able to accommodate 10 patients who need to detox from alcohol and/or other substances.

The new facility is located at 615 Commerce Parkway in Oxford, near the Oxford Outpatient Treatment Center and five miles from Baptist Memorial Hospital. Now, patients who want to transition to outpatient treatment after detox will be able to do so more seamlessly without having to travel far.

The Joint Commission-accredited facility will offer 24-hour nursing care, helping to ensure patient safety and comfort through the detox process.

The opening of Freedom House is critical for public health. During the past two years, there has been a dramatic increase in drug and alcohol-related deaths.

Recent CDC data indicated that from June 2020 to June 2021, more than 100,000 people died from a drug overdose. Fentanyl, an illicit drug, was responsible for more than two-thirds of overdose deaths nationwide.

“It’s maddening to see more people and families experience tragedies caused by this overdose crisis we’re facing that is primarily driven by fentanyl,” said Mark Stovall, CEO of Oxford Treatment Center.

Stovall says each year tens of thousands of people are losing their lives to drug overdose and it’s happening more and more in Mississippi.

“One reason we opened up Freedom House was that we simply need more resources to combat this increasingly alarming issue.”

From 2020 to 2021, the number of fentanyl overdose deaths in Mississippi increased by 74%. Counterfeit pills pressed and made to resemble the prescription drug Percocet have been involved in many overdose cases in the state.

“I’m so proud of the treatment we provide at Oxford and the number of people we’ve been able to help begin their own recovery journeys,” said Stovall.

“We will be replicating that same high-quality treatment at Freedom House as we prepare patients to take their first steps into a new life.”
